Gronkowski Traded!!!

Denver completed a trade with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, landing fullback Chris Gronkowski in exchange for reserve cornerback Cassius Vaughn .

John Elway announced the deal on Twitter and explained why his team pulled the trigger.

Our team has a lot of depth in the secondary and this an opportunity for us to add a quality fullback to our roster.

- John Elway (@johnelway) May 23, 2012 Chris Gronkowski is the brother of Rob Gronkowski , the All-Pro tight end for the New England Patriots . Chris hasn't kept defensive coordinators up at night like his brother, but he gives the Broncos depth at the position. The only other fullback on the roster is Austin Sylvester . Gronk the Lesser started seven games with the Dallas Cowboys in 2010 and appeared in seven with the Colts this past season.

Vaughn is intriguing. Largely untested as a defensive back, he's flashed potential as a kick returner. Vaughn averaged 30 yards per return with the Broncos in 2011, including a sizzling 67-yarder. He also returned a kickoff for a score in 2010. Vaughn's three starts on defense last season included a 55-yard pick six off Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers in Week 5. Vaughn landed on injured reserve last November with an ankle injury but is now healthy.

Not an earth-shattering trade, but both teams believe they've improved their rosters here.

*You knew o was talking about THIS Gronkowski, right??? ;)
