Greg, why dont kick and punt return yards count.I think it would only add to the research that needs to be done before the draft.

Return yards should count

In my opinion, although it would add value to some people, it would completely detract from the game.

How is it fair that because a guy takes a kickoff and punt and runs it for say 20-25 yards should receive 2-2.5 points? I could take a KICKOFF and run it straight up field for 15-20 yards. It would be complete "gimme" points, and that is not what the NFFC is about.

Now if Steve Smith (for example) returns a TD, awarding him 6 points (along with the Panthers D/ST) is something I could see.

Yeah, I don't see us ever rewarding return yards. There is an argument for rewarding the individual player the 6 points for a return touchdown, but we're already doing that for the Special Teams. When you draft a Defense/Special Teams, you are taking into consideration players like Steve Smith and Dante Hall, so rewarding the team and the individual player doesn't make sense.

I know that more can be better, but in the case of special teams I think more could be less for our game.

Billy you couldn't even catch the kickoff let alone run it for 15 yards at headhunters looking to tear you apart. This is the NFL you are talking about. Murphy was talking about adding some depth to our "game", which would cause us to take into consideration those guys who have great speed and playmaking ability. They also have just as much ability as other starters (recievers) yet are limited by the coach's decisions.
If anything it would add a completly new and exciting level, making viewing special teams worthwhile.
